Stock 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK with 35″ Tires

One of the more common questions we’re asked is what size of tire can our Flat Style Flares accomodate with a JK’s stock ride height? The internal debate has always been between a 33″x12.50″ and 35″x12.50″ – the 35″ rubbing slightly . The biggest culprit that rubbed the 35′s was the JK’s pinch seam located in the rear wheel well (Forum thread on seam removal). This frivolous extension of the body serves no real function, and can seriously scrape the tread on your tires when articulating.

So we decided to put the 35″ tire theory to the test, and took a stock 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and threw our Flat Style Flares and 35″x12.5″ KM2 M/T’s on it. Paired with Hanson bumpers – our Rubicon with a stock suspension was ready to tackle the Big Bear Jeep Jamboree! Continue reading

2013 Jeep Concept Vehicles

Jeep and Mopar have released a slew of 2013 Jeep concept vehicles, which will debut next week at the Easter Jeep Safari. The lineup includes five heavily modified 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK’s, and one 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel Trailhawk. The question is will any of the features seen on the concept vehicles actually make it to the production line? I’d say that chances are slim considering Chrysler’s reputation for being a tease. Consider last year’s Easter Jeep Safari where a Jeep 2500 pickup truck was unveiled, but has since disappeared. Regardless, we’ll be on site for the 2013 Easter Jeep Safari, and will bring you more details (plus pics) next week!

10th Anniversary Jeep Wrangler JKU Rubicon

2013-jeep-wrangler-jku-rubicon-unlimitedChrysler recently unveiled the 10th anniversary Jeep JKU Rubicon. Jeep has become notorious for their special edition Wranglers, all of which are differentiated through unique badging. But the 10th anniversary Rubicon stands out from the rest. Unlike the 2013 Wrangler Moab, the 10th anniversary Rubicon comes standard with Dana 44′s, 4.10 axles, electronic lockers, and the heavy duty 4:1 Rock-Trac transfercase.

The differences between the standard 2013 JKU Rubicon and the 10th anniversary edition seem to be aesthetic with the exception of the winch ready front bumper, dual intake hood, and Mopar rock rails. Chrysler also claims that the 10th edition will have more ground clearance than the standard JKU Rubicon. This could be due to the removable end caps of the front bumper, which are steel encased in plastic. Continue reading

2013 Jeep Rubicon Build | Crimson Sol

The SEMA Show is the premier auto show with the biggest names in the industry coming together for a week of shared enthusiasm. With them comes a myriad of vehicles built for the show, they come in all shapes and sizes – varying from clean and simple to gaudy and extreme. We went around and covered as many as we could, and picked out some of the best builds featuring Bushwacker Fender Flares. Over the next few weeks we’ll be posting the builds right here on our blog.

To start – we’re taking a look at Truck-Lite’s “Crimson Sol” 2013 Jeep Rubicon build. Like many Jeep’s this 2013 Rubicon had humble beginnings before it’s transformation in to a beast. Oh, and it was built by one man working a full time job in three weeks! you can read more about the Crimson Sol’s inception on the build’s blog here.

Jeep Wrangler Sand Trooper by Mopar

mopar-jeep-wrangler-jk-sand-trooperMopar is at it once again. This time they’re building a 2013 Jeep Wrangler and calling it the “Sand Trooper”. Slated to be unveiled at SEMA, the final product will vary from the concept sketch (at right).

Apparently the show model will be a four door without the soft top. It will also feature Bushwacker Flat Style Fender Flares that will cover massive 42″ tires! (kinda look like Baja Claws to me) We’re ecstatic that Mopar is using our Flares for their SEMA project, and can’t wait to see it in person!

As expected, Mopar is pulling the stops on the Sand Trooper. Built for extreme use, this 2013 Wrangler is getting the full treatment which includes a lift with Fox Shox, low gears, beadlocks (my guess is Walker Evans wheels), LED lights, bumpers, skids, rails, and a WARN winch. The cherry on the cake is the beautiful 375hp 5.7L Hemi under the hood. Continue reading

2013 Jeep Wrangler | Moab Edition

2013-jeep-wrangler-jk-moab-editionWe saw a slew of special edition Wranglers in 2012, and it looks like 2013 won’t be any different. The 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK will have a new model added to the arsenal: the Moab Edition. Although the Moab edition remains unlisted on Jeep’s website, it is scheduled to be available to dealers this month.

The Moab has several distinct features that set it apart from other editions. Each ’13 Wrangler Moab comes standard with a limited slip rear differential, 17″ Rubicon wheels painted gloss black, rock rails, a steel bumper manufactured by AEV, premium soft top, and edition-specific badging. From what we can tell the only paint options are white or black. Throw on some larger tires and some Flat Fender Flares, and you’ll have one tricked out ’13 Wrangler. Continue reading
